The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has called for a State-wide protest on 12 May, demanding the withdrawal of the Labour Codes notified by the Central government in November 2025.
“In accordance with the call given by the CITU All India Committee, the CITU Karnataka State Committee has called for a protest on May 12 across all district centres and workplaces in the State, by collectively burning copies of the rules framed by the Central government under the four Labour Codes,” noted a statement issued by the union.
Noting that the codes are a move to destroy the fundamental rights of the workers including the right to protest, the union also urged the Karnataka government to not implement the codes in the State.
