What does a Telangana summer look like? If the State’s latest Heatwave Action Plan 2026 is any indication, it is a season that will test both people and systems across nearly the entire region. Of 612 mandals in Telangana, as many as 588 have been identified as vulnerable to heatwave conditions, leaving only 24 mandals in the relatively safe category.
The assessment, built on historical heatwave trends and climate data, divides mandals into five risk categories. At the most severe end, six mandals fall under the ‘severe’ category while 106 are classified as ‘critical’, 189 mandals are marked ‘semi-critical’ and 287 are placed under the ‘vigilant’ category.
