The BJP’s Tirupati district unit is reaching out to the public through its flagship programme ‘Janata Varadhi’ by taking up civic and welfare-related grievances.
Residents from different parts of the city and nearby villages attended the district-level programme organised at the party office in Tirupati on Friday and submitted representations seeking resolution of various issues.
BJP district general secretary K. Naresh Babu and district vice-president Anusha Ramakrishna, who are serving as convener and co-convener of the ‘Janata Varadhi’ initiative respectively, said the grievances received would be compiled and forwarded to the District Collector for necessary action.
A majority of the complaints raised by unorganised workers were related to the cumbersome procedures involved in the registration and renewal of A.P. Labour Cards and Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) cards.
Ms. Anusha said the working classes were being deprived of benefits due to complicated claim procedures, lack of cooperation from building contractors, poor coordination among departments and inadequate awareness among beneficiaries.
Former district general secretary Thanja Mohan, Dasari Corporation Director Prem Kumar, IT cell convenor Reddy Babu, BJYM district president Parthasarathy and Tirupati Central mandal general secretary Karunakar Reddy participated in the programme.
