The participation of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) MLA, P. Mukundan, in the weekly grievances redress day meeting at the Krishnagiri Collectorate on Monday (May 25, 2026), added curiosity to an otherwise normal weekly administrative occurrence.
Mr. Mukundan seeking a spot on the dais alongside District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar at the meeting, though not overtly seen as an overreach, raised a few eyebrows. Petitions from across the six Assembly constituencies of the district, over which the MLA holds no jurisdiction except for his own constituency of Krishnagiri, are received at the meeting.
Speaking to The Hindu, the Collector clarified that there was no expressly stated prohibition or allowance regarding an MLA’s participation. “It is a grey area. However, I have seen Tiruvallur MLA V.G. Rajendran participating in Vellore.”
The MP of the district chairs the District Development and Monitoring Committee meeting pertaining to the development works and schemes implemented under the Union government funds.
