The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) schools recorded an overall pass percentage of 92.26% in the Class XII public examination held in March 2026, with 4,778 of 5,179 students from its 35 higher secondary schools clearing the examination.

According to a press release, 2,257 boys and 2,922 girls appeared for the examination. Of them, 2,028 boys and 2,750 girls passed, registering pass percentages of 89.85% and 94.11% respectively.

The overall pass percentage has increased steadily over the last four years, rising from 86.86% in 2023 to 87.13% in 2024, 88.12% in 2025, and 92.26% in 2026.

Two schools recorded a 100% pass — Chennai Girls Higher Secondary School, Nungambakkam, and Chennai Higher Secondary School, C.I.T Nagar.

As many as 173 students secured centum scores in individual subjects. Of them, 90 secured full marks in Food Service Management, 47 in Auditing, 10 in Computer Science, eight each in Computer Applications and Accountancy, four in Textile and Dress Designing, and two each in Economics, Business Mathematics and Basic Mechanical Engineering.

In the overall score categories, 43 students secured between 551 and 600 marks, 241 scored between 501 and 550, and 543 students obtained between 451 and 500 marks.
