A record assistant working in the School Education department was caught allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau in Hyderabad on Monday (May 25).
The accused was identified as S. Shivanand, Record Assistant in the office of the Deputy Inspector of Schools at Government High School, Ameerpet Mandal.
According to the ACB, the official allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant for processing and submitting the pension benefit file of the complainant’s mother to higher authorities and for processing retirement benefit settlements.
Officials said the accused was caught red-handed by the ACB City Range-II unit at around 2 p.m. while allegedly accepting the bribe amount. The tainted cash was recovered from his possession.
The ACB said the official allegedly performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.
The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
The ACB urged the public to report demands for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064, WhatsApp helpline and social media platforms.
