Property tax collections under the Greater Bangalore Authority (GBA) have crossed ₹3,000 crore as of June, up from around ₹2,800 crore collected during the corresponding period last year, GBA Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao said. 

Crediting revenue officials for the increase in collections, the GBA chief directed them to strengthen tax recovery efforts. He also instructed officials to identify properties that remain outside the tax net and bring them under the property tax system.  

Speaking on e-Khata and pointing out that a large number of complaints had been received regarding e-Khata changes, correction of names and rectification of other property details, Mr. Rao directed the corporations to assign responsibility for e-Khata corrections to deputy commissioners to expedite disposal of pending applications and complaints. He also instructed officials to improve the correction module, speed up the issuance of corrected e-Khatas and ensure quicker resolution of grievances. 

The responsibility had earlier been vested with joint commissioners, whose workload was already extensive and hence the responsibility has been shifted, Mr. Rao said. Calling for a special drive to clear pending cases, he said greater responsibility should be given to deputy commissioners in the revenue department to dispose of correction requests and complaints at the earliest, to improve the delivery of e-Khata services to citizens.
