A 58-year-old woman was allegedly robbed of 16 sovereigns and ₹20,000 in cash by two masked persons at her house in Rasipuram’s Pattinam on Thursday night.
According to police, S. Kalaiselvi resided alone at her farm house in Amman Kovil Thottam after the death of her husband a few years ago and the weddings of her daughters.
Around 9 p.m. on Thursday, two masked persons allegedly broke into her house and threatened Kalaiselvi with a knife and a gun. They robbed her of her chain, bangles, earrings and other jewellery in the almirah as well as the cash before fleeing.
Later, she alerted her daughters about the incident and they alerted the Rasipuram police. A team, along with forensic experts, reached the spot and gathered fingerprints. On information, Namakkal Superintendent of Police Vimala visited the spot.
The Rasipuram police registered a case and are on the lookout for the culprits.
