The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has bagged the top honours at the Airports’ Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific & Middle East Safety Recognition Awards 2026.
The KIA won the diamond award, while the gold and silver went to Chubu Centrair International Airport, Nagoya, Japan and King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia respectively.
The ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East stated that the 2026 edition of the awards continues to recognise airport operators’ efforts in promoting effective safety culture and safety management through innovative and cost-effective solutions.
The theme of the year is “Effective implementation of Runway Safety Team”. The ACI said that the recognised airports stood out for their innovative solutions to address operational challenges and demonstrate operational resilience.
“Aviation safety and efficiency are the bedrocks of our industry, a safe operation and runway management are equally critical to maintain the trust of travellers, especially in an increasingly complex operating environment. Airports across the region have demonstrated a high standard of leadership and resilience to adapt to the evolving environment. I congratulate the winners for their commitment to safety excellence,” Stefano Baronci, Director General of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, said.
