The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a QR code–based photo identity card module on the ECINET to prevent unauthorised persons from entering the counting centres.
The system will come into force for the vote-counting to be held on May 4 for the Assemblies elections in Tamil Nadu and three other States and the Union Territory of Puducherry and the by-elections from seven Assembly constituencies in five States. It will be extended to all elections in future, the ECI said in a press release.
