The All India Russian Education Fair 2026-27 will be held in Coimbatore on May 15, offering 10,000 MBBS seats for Indian students in Russian universities, organisers announced on Monday.

The fair will be conducted at Hotel Grand Regent from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature participation from seven Russian government universities. Spot admissions for MBBS and other programmes will be offered during the event.

Addressing reporters in Coimbatore, Mr. Alexander Dodonov, Vice Consul and Director of Russian House, Chennai, said Russia continued to be a preferred destination for Indian students pursuing medical education abroad. He said Russian universities fully complied with the latest National Medical Commission (NMC) norms for overseas medical education, including duration of study, internship, curriculum, and English-medium instruction.

According to organisers, MBBS programmes in Russia are subsidised by the government, with annual fees starting from ₹3.5 lakh. Students who have cleared NEET and secured a minimum of 50% marks in relevant subjects are eligible to apply, while the minimum requirement for SC, ST, and OBC students is 40%. Tamil-medium students are also eligible, and no entrance tests such as IELTS or CET are required.

Mr. Ravi Chandran C., Managing Director of Study Abroad Educational Consultants, said over 25,000 Indian students were studying medicine in Russian universities. He added that more than 200 Indian students would receive 100% scholarships from the Russian government this year for various higher education programmes.

The participating institutions include Volgograd State Medical University, Kazan State Medical University, and Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University, among others.
