The Chennai Division of Southern Railway commissioned new solar power plants with a capacity of 140 KWP at St. Thomas Mount Railway Station, Zonal Electric Traction Training Centre (ZETTC), Avadi, ZETTC Men’s Hostel, and Guindy Railway Station in the financial year 2025–26, according to a press release.
It will generate a total of 2,04,400 units of green energy annually and aid in saving ₹19.21 lakh per annum. The Chennai Division’s total installed solar capacity now stands at 2,494.5 KWP after these installations, the release said .
