India trashes Pakistan allegations on Karachi attack

India on Sunday (June 28, 2026) rejected Pakistan’s allegations, linking it to an attack on a military base in Karachi, in which at least four paramilitary personnel died. “We have seen Pakistani reports making baseless allegations against India regarding the recent incident in Karachi. We categorically reject them,” Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), said in a post on X.

Sonam Wangchuk joins CJP protest, begins hunger strike at Jantar Mantar

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Sunday (June 28, 2026) began a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, where the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has been holding a protest since June 20, seeking the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in examinations. Hundreds of protesters, mostly youth and students, gathered at Jantar Mantar as Mr. Wangchuk began his fast. Several farmer leaders were also present at the protest site. The protest began with a two-minute silence.

Police recreate crime scene with Siya Goyal at Lohagad Fort

Police on Sunday (June 28, 2026) took Siya Goyal, an accused in the alleged murder of her fiancé and Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, to the Lohagad Fort for the reconstruction of the crime scene, an official said. According to the police, the exercise is aimed at recreating the exact chain of events of the June 18 incident, when Agarwal was allegedly pushed to his death from the fort by Siya (20) and her ‘lover’, Chetan Chaudhary (22).

The Congress on Sunday (June 28, 2026) flagged that several States have raised concerns regarding the MGNREGA-substitute VB-G RAM G Act, and said the new law would guarantee only centralisation and further financial stress on States. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the Modi Government, “vengeful and petty” as ever, bulldozed the repeal of MGNREGA through Parliament without any thorough consultation with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development, State governments, or other relevant stakeholders.

DGS withdraws restriction on the movement of Indian ships in the Strait of Hormuz

Trinamool Congress leaders loyal to Mamata Banerjee have filed a police complaint against rebels led by Ritabrata Banerjee, the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, alleging misuse of the party name and symbol. On behalf of the leaders backing Ms. Banerjee, Trinamool MP Dola Sen has filed a complaint with the Kalighat and Newtown police stations in Kolkata. This grouping of leaders is also called the ‘Kalighat camp’ of the Trinamool.
