The Ministry of Railways has issued the gazette notification on Monday (May 4, 2026) constituting the South Coast Railway (SCoR), India’s 18th railway zone, headquartered at Visakhapatnam.
The zone will be fully operational on June 1, 2026, meeting a demand that Andhra Pradesh has pressed for more than four decades and a statutory commitment made to the State under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
