Delhi University on Saturday opened the first phase of its three-phase undergraduate (UG) admission process for the 2026-27 academic session for nearly 71,600 seats across 67 colleges.

Admissions will be conducted based on candidates’ scores in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and fulfilment of the programme-specific eligibility criteria published in the UG Bulletin of Information 2026-27, the university said. The entire admission process will be conducted online through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal.

It will facilitate registration, document upload, fee payment, preference submission, admission upgrades and withdrawal.

Students have been advised to carefully read the information before applying and to familiarise themselves with the admission process.

“Registrations have been opened in the first phase. The second phase will definitely be opened by next week,” said Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi. She said around 71,600 UG seats are available across 73 programmes and over 100 BA programme combinations.

‘Hassle-free experience’

The university said that during the first phase, candidates can register using only their CUET application number.

“In line with the university’s initiative to ensure a secure and hassle-free registration experience, candidates’ essential credentials have been auto-integrated. This eliminates the hassle of managing duplicate data, thereby strengthening data security and minimising student-specific entry errors,” read the DU statement.

Once the registration is submitted, no change, edit or modification will be allowed. Candidates will have to pay a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of ₹250 for the unreserved, Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories, and ₹100 for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe candidates and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities.

During the second phase, the applicants will have to submit their preferences for programme and college combinations.

“In Phase II of CSAS, the candidates will have to map the CUET test papers with the subjects studied in Class 12. It must be noted that for ascertaining the programme-specific eligibility, only those CUET language and/or domain-specific papers will be considered in which the candidate has passed Class 12,” the university said.

‘Exercise utmost care’

Using the subject mapping, the university will determine candidates’ eligibility and calculate their cumulative scores for all programmes for which they qualify. Applicants will then be required to submit their programme and college preferences. The university said Class 10 and Class 12 board examination marks would be used as tie-breakers if two candidates secure identical CUET scores and have the same preferences. “Candidates are advised to exercise utmost care while filling their Class 10 and 12 marks as these will form the basis for breaking the tie, if any,” it said.

The third phase will comprise seat allocation and admission, during which candidates will have to accept their allotted seats and pay the admission fee. Multiple rounds of seat allocation will be conducted until all available seats are filled. The university has advised applicants to regularly visit the official admission website (admission.uod.ac.in) for updates, schedules and announcements.

For admission under the sports supernumerary quota, candidates may apply for up to three sports or games and upload up to three merit or participation certificates issued between May 1, 2023 and April 30, 2026.
