Cadres of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) said the party’s chief coordinator, K.A. Sengottaiyan, had delivered a “befitting reply” to AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami by winning the Gobichettipalayam Assembly constituency for a record ninth time.

During the campaign, Mr. Palaniswami had criticised Mr. Sengottaiyan, describing him as a “betrayer” and accusing him of “disloyalty”. He had also expressed confidence that the AIADMK would overcome all challenges and said the party’s victory celebrations for the 2026 Assembly election would be held in Gobichettipalayam.
