The Thuraiyur police have launched a probe after a minor girl suffered mild electric shock when she came into contact with a solar powered fence put up around a private memorial along the Thuraiyur-Athur Road on Thursday evening. 

The case was registered on Friday under Section 125A of the BNS on a complaint lodged by the girl’s father Krishnamurthy of Thuraiyur.  The police have named Suresh — who had constructed the “Thai Kovil” in memory of his mother along the Thuraiyur-Athur road near Thuraiyur. 

Suresh allegedly did not get permission for putting up the solar-powered fence around the memorial.  Police sources said the girl was taking a stroll in the evening with her grandmother when she accidentally touched the memorial gate connected to the solar powered fence and fell down. The girl later went home and narrated the incident to Mr. Krishnamurthy who lodged a complaint with the Thuraiyur police. A police team went to the residence of Suresh who was not present at that time. However, the police have booked a case.
