The Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College (MRMC), run by the Hyderabad Karnataka Education (HKE) Society, will organise its convocation ceremony for the 2026-27 batch of MBBS graduates at the SAC Centre on the Chandrashekhar Patil Memorial Boys Hostel Grounds in Kalaburagi on Saturday.

Minister for Medical Education and MRMC alumnus Sharanprakash Patil will inaugurate the ceremony.

Kalaburagi Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul S. Sankanur will be the chief guest.

A total of 140 medical graduates will be conferred their MBBS degrees. They will take the Charaka Oath, the professional pledge administered to graduating medical students, reaffirming their commitment to ethical medical practice and patient care.

Among the graduating batch, 12 students have secured gold medals, while 73 students have passed with First Class. The overall pass percentage for the batch stands at 95.48.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, HKE Society president Shashil G. Namoshi said that the institution has made significant progress in strengthening medical education and healthcare infrastructure during his tenure.

“As part of our efforts to expand academic opportunities in allied healthcare, the society has introduced a Bachelor of Physiotherapy programme with an annual intake of 60 students,” Mr. Namoshi said.

Expansion, upgrade

He added that the society has also launched six undergraduate Allied Health Sciences programmes to cater to the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals.

These include Anaesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology, Radiology and Imaging Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Cardiac Care Technology (Cardiology), Optometry and Dialysis Technology.

These specialised programmes are designed to train healthcare professionals who play a crucial role in modern multidisciplinary patient care alongside doctors and nurses.

Mr. Namoshi said that MRMC has an annual intake of 200 undergraduate (MBBS) seats and 156 postgraduate (MD/MS) seats across various specialities.

The institution is expected to receive approval for an additional 19 postgraduate seats from this academic year, further enhancing opportunities for higher medical education.

Highlighting the institution’s healthcare infrastructure, he said that the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital, the teaching hospital attached to MRMC, has undergone substantial modernisation.

“The hospital has upgraded its Intensive Care Units with advanced critical care facilities and established four state-of-the-art modular operation theatres, which provide improved infection control, air filtration systems and advanced surgical infrastructure,” he said.

“Construction of a new hospital block is under way. The new block will have eight additional operation theatres added, significantly enhancing the hospital’s capacity to perform specialised and high-volume surgeries,” Mr. Namoshi said.

He said the HKE Society remains committed to strengthening both medical education and patient care by continuously investing in academic expansion, advanced healthcare infrastructure and quality clinical training.
