The Bengaluru North City Corporation has filed a cybercrime complaint against websites that were charging people extra money for booking slots at electric crematoriums within the corporation's jurisdiction. As per the officials, some websites and individuals have been offering crematorium booking services and collecting amounts higher than the official fee, misleading families during a difficult time.
“The official charge for cremation at the two electric crematoriums under its jurisdiction — Chirashanthidhama in Hebbal and Muktidhama Electric Crematorium in Medi Agrahara — is ₹250. However, complaints were received that fake websites and agents were demanding additional payments from citizens for booking slots.
Following this, a case has been registered with the Cyber Crime Police in Yelahanka. The corporation has requested citizens not to rely on private websites or intermediaries for crematorium bookings.
