The Chinna Bazar police have arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in house theft cases and recovered over ₹5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth ₹10 lakh from their possession.
According to the police, the accused have been identified as Shaik Khader (28) and Marri Ashok (25), both residents of Janardhanreddy Colony in Venkateswarapuram of Nellore district. Police said the accused would target locked houses during the day, and steal valuables in the night.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Dachuri Maheswari that her house was looted by miscreants on May 8 when she was away to attend the marriage works of her younger sister, the police registered a case and started investigation.
In response to a series of house thefts in the city, night patrolling was intensified under the supervision of Additional SP (Admin) Ch. Soujanya and Nellore Town ASP Deeksha, following the directions of SP Ajitha Vejandla.
A police team led by CI Ch. Koteswara Rao, SI A. Ayyappa, SI SK. Abdul Razak arrested the accused.
