Parents staged a protest for the second consecutive day in Devakottai, demanding the release of the Class X and Class XII ICSE exam results of a private school.
A private ICSE school is operating on Tiruppattur Road in Devakottai, Sivaganga district. From this school, 56 students appeared for the Class X exams and 35 students appeared for the Class XII exams.
Meanwhile, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) released the ICSE Class X and Class XII results on April 30.
It is reported that the results for this specific private school in Devakottai were withheld due to allegations of examination irregularities.
The parents of the affected students besieged the school on Monday.
Devakottai Sub-Collector Ayush Venkat Vats and District Education Officer (Private) Vadivel held talks and informed the parents that students could appear for the supplementary exams to be held in June. They also suggested that the parents could approach the High Court regarding this matter.
Following this, the parents who had dispersed returned to the school again on Tuesday. They urged the school administration to abandon the decision to make students retake the exam and instead release the results of the exams already written.
When the administration did not accept this, the parents engaged in a road blockade on Tiruppattur Road in front of the school.
Tahsildar Thangamani and the police mediated and made the protesters to disperse.
Regarding this, the parents of the affected students said, “There will be a delay in getting the results if they write the supplementary exams. This will lead to a situation where they cannot join colleges. Therefore, the decision to make them write the exam again should be dropped. The results of the exams already written must be released.” Meanwhile, some parents have approached the High Court.
