Four individuals, including an auto-rickshaw driver, were arrested by the Shamshabad police for robbing three passengers travelling on National Highway-44 near Ghansimiyaguda village on May 7.
The arrested accused were identified as Abdul Yasin, the auto driver, Mohammed Mosin, Abdul Mosin and Atif Khan, all residents of Chandrayangutta.
According to the police, the victims identified as Prince Kumar, Abhishek Kumar and Roshan Kumar had boarded the auto-rickshaw from Charlapally Railway Station to travel to Kothur. While passing through the Ghansimiyaguda village, the driver stopped the vehicle and with the help of his associates assaulted the trio.
The accused robbed the victims of ₹1,800 in cash, two silver chains, a silver ring and two mobile phones. Police said the victims were also forced to transfer ₹5,000 through Google Pay after being threatened with dire consequences.
After the robbery, the accused abandoned the victims on the highway and fled. Based on a complaint lodged by the victims, Shamshabad police registered a case on May 7 and launched an investigation.
During the probe, police apprehended all four and recovered the stolen cash, mobile phones and silver ornaments from them. Auto-rickshaw used in the offence was also seized.
The accused were produced before a court and remanded to Chanchalguda Jail on Saturday night. Further investigation is underway.
