Nineteen individuals were arrested for indecent behaviour in public places during 72 decoy operations carried out by the Cyberabad SHE Teams over the past week.

According to the Women and Child Safety Wing, 15 petty cases were booked against the accused, while the remaining persons were counselled. The SHE Teams also received 31 complaints from women through various channels during the period between May 9 and May 15.

Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) rescued three victims and apprehended nine accused persons in three cases registered under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA). In separate operations under the Juvenile Justice Act, officials rescued three boys and arrested three accused persons in as many cases.

Police also said efforts were made to reunite 22 families through counselling sessions conducted at Family Counselling Centres and Centres for Domestic and Emotional Wellbeing.

As part of awareness and preventive initiatives, the AHTU and SHE Teams organised awareness programmes across Cyberabad, reaching nearly 1,198 participants. Sessions focused on issues such as human trafficking, child trafficking, eve teasing, cyber bullying, cyber frauds, stalking, child marriages, child labour and social media harassment. Officials also spread awareness about emergency helplines including Dial 100, Women Helpline 181 and Child Helpline 1098.

In addition, under the Safe Stay programme jointly launched by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council and Cyberabad Police, an orientation session on the Safe Stay Portal was conducted for hostel association members and hostel owners in Cyberabad.

More than 100 hostel owners and association members attended the session, where they were briefed on updating hostel profiles and safety infrastructure details on the portal. Officials said over 1,000 hostels have already been audited under the initiative aimed at strengthening safety and security standards.

Participants were advised to maintain updated information related to CCTV surveillance, visitor management systems, fire safety mechanisms and emergency contact details to ensure safer accommodation facilities for students and working professionals.
