Counting of votes is underway in Tamil Nadu, with C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is leading in over 100 out of 234 constituencies across the State, as of 4.20 p.m. on Monday (May 4, 2026). The DMK-led alliance is leading in over 60 seats and AIADMK+ is leading in over 50 seats, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The results have been declared in the Gudalur constituency in the Nilgiris, with the DMK’s Dhravidamani becoming the MLA for the third time. Mr. Vijay was leading in both Perambur and Tiruchi East, the two seats he contested. AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami maintained a comfortable lead in Edappadi. Meanwhile, DMK president M.K. Stalin lost in Kolathur, a seat he has represented since 2011, behind TVK candidate V.S. Babu, a former DMK legislator.
Elections to the 234-seat Assembly were held in a single phase on April 23. The total voter turnout stood at 85.1% with 4.8 crore votes polled.
