The Telangana Congress conducted a series of virtual meetings to train and guide party leaders on voter mapping and the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with senior leaders urging cadres to remain vigilant and safeguard every genuine vote.
The meetings were led by AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud.
According to party leaders, six separate Zoom meetings were conducted, each covering three Parliamentary constituencies and lasting about 30 minutes. The discussions focused on voter mapping, the procedures involved in the SIR exercise, the responsibilities of Booth Level Agents (BLAs), and monitoring the work being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
The meetings reviewed the progress of voter mapping in each Assembly constituency and discussed measures to identify voters whose names may have been omitted from electoral rolls. Leaders were instructed to ensure that eligible voters who have lost their voting rights are assisted in restoring their names through proper documentation and re-application procedures.
Addressing the participants, Meenakshi Natarajan and Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that the BJP and the Election Commission were facilitating large-scale voter deletions in various parts of the country. They claimed that voter verification exercises were being misused to remove votes believed to be favourable to opposition parties. They asked the BLAs to thoroughly examine voter mapping data and ensure that every genuine voter remains on the electoral rolls. Party functionaries to assist affected individuals in securing restoration of their voting rights. The meetings were coordinated by party leader Gampa Venugopal, while TPCC Election Commission Chairman Rajesh briefed participants on election-related procedures and guidelines.
Party leaders said nearly 90 per cent of BLA training programmes have already been completed. Beginning June 25, BLA-2 volunteers will undertake door-to-door visits as part of the voter verification exercise.
Among those who attended the meetings were AICC secretary Sachin Sawant, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Training Cell chairman and MLA Rammohan Reddy, along with MPs, MLAs, MLCs, DCC presidents and Parliamentary constituency coordinators.
