A new trust has been floated to promote and preserve classical arts, particularly the contributions of Maratha Kings in the field of Carnatic Music.
According to the Founder Chairman and Managing Trustee, Pratap Sinh Serfoji Raje Bhosale, the organisation – Sadar Mahal Palace Trust - having its office at Thanjavur aims to preserve and restore heritage monuments, royal structures, and historic sites connected with the Thanjavur Maratha period. The trust also seeks to foster and promote classical Indian performing arts, especially Carnatic music and bharatanatyam, by organising music festivals, dance festivals, lecture demonstrations, cultural programs, and educational activities.
The trust further intends to create awareness of the compositions of the Thanjavur Maratha kings and encourage artists and researchers to preserve these rare cultural treasures through performances, publications, workshops, and archival initiatives. Special emphasis will be given to supporting young and emerging artists and promoting artistic excellence through awards and recognitions, he said.
