The State executive committee meeting of Tamil Nadu Nutritious Meal Employees Association (TNNMEA) was held in Thoothukudi on Saturday.
The meeting was presided over by State president P. Chellathurai.
At the meeting, several key resolutions were passed on long-pending demands of the nutritious meal workers.
Addressing the media following the meeting, Mr. Chellathurai said that with the Assembly session set to begin on June 18, he urged the government to announce key demands including time-scale pay and a pension of ₹7,850 along with dearness allowance.
He further demanded that the breakfast scheme be integrated with the nutritious meal scheme and implemented through nutritious meal workers. He also pointed out that around 60% of posts remained vacant across the State and said they must ne filled immediately.
The association also decided to submit petitions to Ministers and senior officials across the State, pressing for time-scale pay, pending wage revisions and pension encashments.
He urged the government to hold talks with representatives of the association and take appropriate action.
