The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a transitional weather pattern for Visakhapatnam and surrounding areas over the coming week, with brief relief from unstable weather conditions before temperatures begin to rise gradually from mid-week.
According to the latest daily bulletin issued by the IMD, a cyclonic circulation continues to influence weather conditions over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Under its impact, Visakhapatnam is expected to witness partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers over the next 48 hours.
The IMD has warned of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds till May 18. Due to this activity, daytime temperatures are likely to remain around 35°C initially, bringing temporary relief from the prevailing humid conditions across Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Night temperatures are expected to stay steady at around 29°C through the week.
Meteorologists said the cyclonic circulation is likely to weaken gradually after the initial two-day period, leading to a reduction in thunderstorm activity. While partly cloudy conditions may continue, mainly dry weather is expected to prevail from May 19 onwards.
The IMD has also forecast a gradual rise of 2°C to 3°C in maximum temperatures across Coastal Andhra Pradesh later in the week. In Visakhapatnam, the daytime temperature is likely to touch around 36°C during the latter half of the week.
Meanwhile, the IMD said the Southwest Monsoon has advanced into parts of the southeast Arabian Sea, southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, indicating steady progress of the seasonal system.
