The SSLC results will be declared in the third week of May and the Plus Two higher secondary results on May 25, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said.
The school Pravesanotsavam (school reopening fete) will be held on June 1.
At a press conference here on Thursday, the Minister said the SSLC valuation that had got under way at 72 valuation camps would continue till May 2. Once the tabulation work was completed, the results would be ready for declaration in the third week of May. This would be later by a few days as compared to the results announcement last year owing to holidays on account of elections, Vishu, and Good Friday, Pareeksha Bhavan officials said.
The higher secondary valuation would be held in 63 single valuation camps and 23 double valuation camps and the results would be out on May 25. Last year, the results were announced on May 22.
Gulf exams
The Minister said that SSLC exams could not be conducted for 633 students in seven centres in the UAE. The UAE had also declared a holiday for all schools till April 17 owing to the war in the region. In such a situation, the situation was not conducive to conducting a re-exam for these students. However, in the absence of clear directives pertaining to the SSLC exams, students and parents were apprehensive.
Meetings held on April 6 and 7, including that by the examination board, had decided that SSLC examinations would be cancelled in the Gulf region. The results will be announced on the basis of marks in model examinations and model IT exams held in February plus a certain percentage of grace marks. In the case of students who were unable to appear for the model exams, the marks obtained in first and second terms and pre-model exams would be considered. Students would still get the opportunity to appear for the SAY (Save-a-Year) examinations.
In the case of Plus Two exams that too were cancelled, the marks obtained in Plus One theory exams would be considered as Plus Two marks and the marks of continuous evaluation (CE) and practicals obtained in Plus Two would be added to declare the results. If there were no practicals, only the CE marks would be held.
If students were not satisfied with the above decisions, they could sit for the Plus Two SAY/Improvement exams in June as the first chance.
Students in the Gulf could appear for the Plus One exams along with the SAY/Improvement exams in June. Plus Two students could appear for the Plus One Improvement exams too. As many as 592 students were to appear for the Plus Two exams.
Class I admissions
The Minister said Class I admissions would begin on May 22. No written exam should be held or capitation fee demanded for class I admission. The Minister pointed out that the Right to Education Act was applicable to unaided schools too.
