Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University has launched the online application process for undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic year.
Vice-Chancellor N. Felix launched the admission portal on Friday. The university, established by the Tamil Nadu government and headquartered in Nagapattinam, offers fisheries education, research, and training through 10 constituent colleges and one affiliated college.
The university offers eight undergraduate programmes, including five professional and three paraprofessional courses. Its flagship Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.) programme is offered on campuses in Thoothukudi, Ponneri, and Thalainayeru.
B. Tech. programmes in Fisheries Engineering, Biotechnology, and Food Technology are offered on campuses in Nagapattinam and Chennai. In addition, the university offers UGC-approved B.Voc. courses in Industrial Fish Processing Technology, Industrial Aquaculture, and Industrial Fishing Technology.
A total of 417 students will be admitted to constituent colleges and 30 students to the affiliated college. Admissions under special categories, including ICAR quota, eminent sportspersons, ex-servicemen, differently abled candidates, government school students and vocational stream students, will also be undertaken as per government norms.
The university has earmarked supernumerary seats for candidates from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, wards of fishermen, non-resident Indians, foreign nationals, Kashmiri migrants, and transgender persons.
According to the university, applications can be submitted online through the official admission portal from May 15 to June 14 till 6 p.m. The application fee is ₹250 for SC, SCA, and ST candidates and ₹500 for others.
The rank list will be prepared based on Higher Secondary examination cut-off marks while counselling dates will be announced later, the Vice-Chancellor said.
