The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is likely to take over the ‘terror links’ case, being probed by the West Zone police of NTR Police Commissionerate.
The Two Town police registered a case against 12 persons, including a woman of Hyderabad, on March 23. Police arrested 12 persons, who allegedly had links with the banned terrorist organisations.
During investigation, it was revealed that the accused discussed on spreading ‘Jihadi’ take up anti-Hindu activities in the country, and planned to create violence.
“We arrested the accused from Vijayawada, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Delhi, Bihar, Karnataka and Maharashtra, who were maintaining contacts with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) terrorist groups,” an investigation officer said.
“The gang members were meeting and discussing over social media groups on following ‘jihadi activities’ and in creating Caliphate (Islamic governing system),” said West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) N.S.V.K. Durga Rao.
“Police alerted the NIA, Telangana Counter Intelligence, SIB, State and Central Intelligence and other wings,” a CI Cell officer said.
“We will soon hand over the case to NIA, as the accused operated from different locations and the case has links to multiple States,” an investigation officer told The Hindu on Saturday (April 11, 2026).
