The Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel attached to Mangaluru Central station under Southern Railway on Tuesday booked 15 people for trespassing on railway property and fined ₹500 per person, collecting a penalty of ₹7,500.

RPF Inspector Manoj Kumar Yadav and his staff conducted a special drive on the Netravathi twin bridges, during which the trespassers were rounded up, said a statement. Many were found fishing while sitting in the gap between the bridge’s girders and the pillars.

The RPF has cautioned the public against trespassing railway property, including tracks and bridges, warning that appropriate punitive action would be initiated against violators.
