MP M. Sribharat visited the Central Jail on Friday and reviewed the reformative and rehabilitation programmes being implemented for inmates.

During his visit, additional superintendent of the jail, Mahesh Babu along with other officials briefed him about the administration, discipline, and the impact of various rehabilitation initiatives on the inmates. The MP observed the jail premises, vocational training centres, and skill development units operated for prisoners. He inspected various production units functioning within the jail premises, including the steel furniture manufacturing unit, toilet soap production unit, detergent soap manufacturing unit, washing powder and dish wash cake units, along with the fly ash brick manufacturing centre.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP said that the programmes were highly inspiring and socially meaningful as they aimed at preparing inmates for a dignified life after release. He also lauded the prison administration for providing employment-oriented training in diverse sectors including steel fabrication, book binding, weaving, dyeing, tailoring, bakery, agriculture, and dairy farming, which would help the inmates in developing confidence and self-reliance.

He further appreciated the educational support being extended through the general and digital library equipped with computers, which provide inmates access to education and motivational resources.

Mr. Sribharat appreciated that the jail administration’s humane approach, evident through welfare measures such as the jail hospital, clean drinking water facilities, kitchen gardens, and communication arrangements that help inmates maintain contact with their family members.

Later, the MP distributed cheques sanctioned under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to beneficiaries at the TDP Parliamentary Constituency Office. A total amount of ₹3,78,816 was distributed in the form of cheques to nine beneficiaries who had applied for assistance.
