A goods train carrying gunny bags from West Bengal arrived in Thanjavur on Tuesday, May 12, and were moved to the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation godowns.
The Corporation had placed orders for gunny bags for procurement of paddy at the direct purchase centres. A total of 27.30 lakh gunny bags in 5,460 lots, each having 500 bags, were brought to Thanjavur in the 42-wagon goods train. They were unloaded from the wagons and moved to TNCSC godowns in the delta region in lorries, sources said.
