The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has released ₹11.63 crore for constructing underpasses on NH 66 at Kuloor and Baikampady junctions, according to Capt. Brijesh Chowta, MP.
The underpasses will be built to ease traffic congestion at the two junctions on the highway, he said.
The underpass (LVUP) at Baikampady junction has been approved at a cost of ₹7.09 crore. With the construction of this underpass, vehicles can safely move towards the industrial area through the underpass instead of taking a dangerous turn on the highway. In addition, it will also facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles between Mangaluru and Udupi on the highway.
Capt. Chowta said that ₹4.54 crore will be invested to construct an underpass near KIOCL junction at Kuloor. The construction of an underpass in this section will help in relieving the traffic congestion and providing smooth traffic flow towards Tannirbavi Beach and MSEZ.
