The Kerala Assembly election verdict, marked by a strong United Democratic Front (UDF) surge, has raised questions over the survival of several minor political parties, many of which have been wiped off the State’s electoral map.

Smaller constituents of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), including Kerala Congress (B), Revolutionary Socialist Party (Leninist) [RSP(L)] and Congress (S) drew a blank, despite having pockets of influence. The three parties, which used to send one member each to the Assembly in the recent past, have been decimated, casting a shadow over their immediate future.
