A youth drowned in a roadside pond as the car he was driving reportedly skidded into the waterbody while negotiating a curve at Kattanchimalai in Karamadai limits on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Harish, a resident of Kooranur employed in a jewellery firm in the city. The Karamadai police requisitioned the services of a crane to lift the car and retrieve the body. The body was handed over to relatives after post-mortem examination at the Mettupalayam Government Hospital later in the day.
