A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly transporting Karnataka liquor illegally for sale in the district. The police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), cash and a vehicle from him.
The police said the arrest was made on May 17 during vehicle checks conducted by a special police team at Diginarai.
The accused, identified as M. Mani of Diginarai, was intercepted while transporting liquor in a mini lorry. The police seized 139 pouches of 90 ml brandy and four 375 ml bottles of the same brand that were allegedly meant for illegal sale. The mini lorry and ₹1.80 lakh in cash were also seized.
A case was registered against the accused, who was remanded in judicial custody.
