Alleging that the ruling Congress in Karnataka has failed to fulfil many of the promises made during the 2023 Assembly elections, members of the Muslim community, under the banner of the Karnataka Rajya Muslim Okkoota (KRMO), have decided to hold a major convention in Bengaluru on May 16 to discuss their future course of action.
A large public convention will be held at Sir K. P. Puttanna Chetty Town Hall in the city, during which a report titled ‘Karnataka Muslim Convention – What Did the Congress Government Say? What Did It Do? What Next?’ will be released.
The decision to organise the convention was taken at a meeting attended by representatives of Muslim organisations, associations, ulema bodies, federations, and members of the KRMO ad hoc committee on May 6, according to a press release.
The report reviews the Congress government’s performance over the past three years, including promises made to the Muslim community on key issues and assurances that, according to the organisers, have remained unfulfilled.
Representatives of various organisations expressed dissatisfaction with the functioning of the Congress government, which is set to complete three years in office soon. A leader said politicians and legislators of the party would not be invited to the meeting.
