Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar of the Telangana High Court directed the State government to undertake drives to clear footpaths of encroachments in the city and install permanent fixtures enabling citizens to make full use of them.
The judge, passing interim directions in a writ petition filed by three senior citizens, including a retired journalist, an advocate and a self-employed person, also directed the authorities to ensure the irregular parking on the roads was dealt with immediately.
The judge wanted the GHMC Commissioner and the Hyderabad Joint Commissioner of Police-Traffic to respond in the matter and file a report by June 9.
