Gandhi Nagar police station undergoes makeover in Hyderabad
The Hindu Bureau · 2026-05-28 · via The Hindu: Latest News today from India and the World, Breaking news, Top Headlines and Trending News Videos.

Infrastructure and upgrades in greenery at the Gandhi Nagar police station were inaugurated by Secunderabad zone DCP Rashita Krishnamurthy on Thursday (May 28) following the station receiving the ISO 9001:2015 certification three months ago.

The police said the certification was awarded in recognition of administrative standards, citizen services and infrastructural development at the station under the Hyderabad City Police.

The upgraded premises were inaugurated in the presence of Additional DCP J. Narasiah and ACP A. Yadagiri. The officials also participated in a plantation drive on the police station premises.

According to the police, the station underwent structural and administrative upgrades under the supervision of SHO N. Bose Kiran. The works included interior and exterior painting, replacement of old lighting systems with LED fixtures, repair of leakages and drainage systems, and reorganisation of records and case property storage rooms.

Police said long-pending seized and abandoned vehicles occupying station premises and surrounding roads were shifted to designated locations to create additional operational space.

A reception counter with seating facilities for visitors was also established, while staff rest areas and barracks were modernised as part of the revamp.

As part of the green initiative, vertical planter pots with different varieties of plants were installed along the boundary walls and flag-hoisting area. Tree branches within the premises were also pruned to improve ventilation and sunlight.

Senior police officials appreciated the efforts taken by the station staff and SHO Bose Kiran in upgrading the police station to meet ISO standards. The programme was attended by station staff, including Harish, Narasimha, Mounika, Sai and Nayeem, among others.
