A nearly one-year-old female leopard was rescued from a toilet at S.V. Veterinary University (SVVU) Clinical Complex on Monday (May 25, 2026) morning. It was then shifted to the Animal Rescue Centre at S.V. Zoological Park in Tirupati for observation and further care.

“The rescue operation was conducted under the supervision of Tirupati Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) Y. Srinivasa Reddy and other officials,” S.V. Zoological Park Curator Anurag Meena said in a statement.

“All protocols have been followed to ensure the safety of the animal and the personnel involved. The animal is being closely monitored by the veterinary team at S.V. Zoological Park. Further updates on the health status and condition of the leopard will be provided in due course,” the statement added.

A team from the Healing And Nurturing Units for Monitoring, Aid and Nursing of Wildlife (HANUMAN) Project, a State government initiative to address human-wildlife conflict, took part in the rescue operation.
