Three IPS officers suspended in R.G. Kar doctor rape-murder case

The West Bengal government on Friday suspended three senior IPS officers, Vineet Goyal, Abhishek Gupta and Indira Mukherjee, in connection with the rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in August 2024. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the officers are accused of mishandling the initial investigation and allegedly offering financial inducements to the victim’s family.
