Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh Lisa Gill on Saturday inaugurated a court complex that comprised 10 courts of the undivided East Godavari district on the banks of the Godavari in Rajamahendravaram.
Built at a cost of ₹38 crore, the facilities in the complex included a mediation centre, a counselling centre, a record room, and special amenities for the differently-abled persons.
Eight civil courts, a family court, and an SC&ST court were proposed to be shifted from their existing building near Pushkar Ghat to the new complex soon, said Gandham Sunitha, judge of the erstwhile East Godavari district.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Lisa Gill said, “The court complex is not merely bricks. It is a living embodiment of the sentiments of the people and commitment of an institution." On adoption technology, she observed, "Digitalisation is very much part of the system and it is no longer an alien subject.”
"Youngsters are getting tempted by Artificial Intelligence. However, we must harness technology for our advantage. We are not dictated by the technology,” she cautioned.
High Court Judges R. Raghunandan Rao, B.V.L.N. Chakravarthy, Sumathi Jagadam and Nalyapathi Vijay spoke.
High Court Judge and Erstwhile East Godavari District Administrative Judge Bhattu Devanand and Rajamahendravaram Bar Association president Ch.V. Prasad were present.
