Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), contesting its maiden election, won five of the eight Assembly constituencies in Erode district, triggering widespread celebrations among party cadre.
A festive atmosphere prevailed from the morning as the first round of results was announced around 9.20 a.m. at the Government College of Engineering, Chithode. Cadre gathered outside the counting centre erupted in jubilation as early trends indicated the party leading in Erode (East), Erode (West), Modakkurichi and Gobichettipalayam constituencies.
