Ramanathapuram police have recovered the decomposed body of a migrant woman worker with her throat slit near Ramanathapuram here on Wednesday.
Police said, Aparna, 38, a native of Patna in Bihar state, was working as a supervisor at a private CNG gas distribution station operating on the outskirts of Ramanathapuram.
She was staying alone in a rented house in Pokuvarathu Nagar near Ramanathapuram.
As the house remained locked for two days and a foul smell emanated on Wednesday, neighbours became suspicious and informed the police.
When the Kenikarai police opened the house and inspected it, they found Aparna lying there with her throat slit and her body in a decomposed state.
The police recovered the body and sent it to the Ramanathapuram Government Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Furthermore, the police are investigating from various angles, including whether the migrant woman worker was murdered or if she was sexually assaulted and murdered.
