President Donald Trump said on Saturday (May 3, 2026) that he was reviewing a new Iranian proposal to end the war, but also expressed scepticism that it would lead to a deal.

“I’ll let you know about it later,” he said before boarding Air Force One, adding that “they’re going to give me the exact wording now.” Shortly after speaking to reporters, Mr. Trump posted on social media about the new proposal, saying he “can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity and the World, over the last 47 years.”

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday (May 2, 2026) he was going to review a new Iranian peace proposal but cast doubt over its prospects, as a senior military officer in Tehran indicated renewed fighting was “likely.”

The dour outlook came after Iran’s Tasnim and Fars news agencies said Tehran had submitted a 14-point proposal to mediator Pakistan. Details included ending the conflict on all fronts and enacting a new framework for the crucial Strait of Hormuz, Tasnim said.

Trump says U.S. will reduce number of troops in Germany 'a lot further' than withdrawal of 5,000

President Donald Trump said on Saturday (April 2) that the U.S. will significantly reduce its troop presence in Germany, escalating a dispute with Chancellor Friedrich Merz as he seeks to scale back America’s commitment to European security.

The Pentagon on Friday (May 1) had initially announced it would pull some 5,000 troops out of Germany, but when asked Saturday (May 2) about the reason for the move, Trump didn’t offer an explanation and said an even bigger reduction was coming.

“We’re going to cut way down. And we’re cutting a lot further than 5,000,” Mr. Trump told reporters in Florida.
