The Tamizhaga Cauvery Vivasayigal Sangam has announced that it would lay siege to the site of the proposed Mekedatu dam at Karnataka on May 31.
The decision was taken at the association’s recent meeting held at Mannargudi, said association general secretary P. R. Pandian.
Holding the previous DMK regime responsible for the current development in the Mekedatu issue where the Karnataka government was firm on its decision to construct a dam across river Cauvery, Mr. Pandian demanded that the project be withdrawn. To press the demand of Tamil Nadu farmers, the association members and like-minded farmers would march towards Mekedatu from Thanjavur on May 30 and lay siege to the construction site on May 31.
