A 55-year-old lorry driver was killed in a hit-and-run accident near Pettavaithalai, close to Srirangam, on Friday (May 1, 2026).
The deceased was identified as Palaniyappan, 55, son of Devaraya Pillai, of Muthukkappatti in Namakkal district. Police said he was the owner-cum-driver of a lorry and was travelling from Karur towards Tiruchi.
