The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has alleged large-scale irregularities in the Mega DSC teacher recruitment process and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, while also accusing the Andhra Pradesh government of suppressing dissent.

“Attempts to silence critics through intimidation and legal action would only encourage more people, particularly younger generations such as Gen Z and Gen Alpha, to question those in power,” he said, addressing a press conference at the party office at Tadepalli near here on Thursday.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy claimed that lakhs of unemployed youth had placed their hopes on the recruitment drive, but alleged that the State government had failed to conduct the process in a transparent manner.  Sensitive aspects of the Mega DSC examination, including question paper preparation and digital exam management, were mishandled, he said, and questioned why an outsourcing employee linked to the process, who reportedly secured top ranks, was later denied appointment and removed from official records.

'’The authorities have failed to publicly release merit lists, candidate ranks, marks, and cut-off scores,'’ he said. According to him, the absence of such information, commonly disclosed in competitive examinations, including those conducted by the UPSC, had generated confusion and suspicion among candidates.

Raising concerns about appointments made under the sports quota, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that some candidates were selected for teaching positions without appearing for the DSC examination.

Calling for an independent investigation, he said only a neutral agency such as the CBI could uncover the truth behind the allegations. He also announced statewide YSRCP protest rallies on June 12 in support of DSC candidates and against what he described as the government’s “betrayal” of unemployed youth.

‘Intimidation of dissenting voices'

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that the government was targeting critics with police cases, arrests, and intimidation, creating a climate of fear.  “We are witnessing a situation where anyone who raises questions can face cases, arrests, and intimidation. This has become a routine practice,” he said, adding that attempts to suppress dissent would only encourage more people, especially Gen Z and Gen Alpha, to question those in power.
